Attention Dojo members! There ia an important message from Sensei Daisuke
Matsumoto.

With wonderful thanks to everyone,our dojo is flourishing and getting bigger.
The kids classes are becoming full with students. We’ve been having classes with
more than 30 students, some days we even had 40! We greatly appreciate that you
are bringing friends to join our Matsumoto dojo community.

However, with so many students, it is hard for my awareness to reach all the
kids. In a class from white belts to black belts, we usually start with the
basics and split up into groups of different levels. Even with this method, my
attention does not reach everyone.

So, as a solution after a lot of thinking, instead of having classes
separated by age, we will be separating by belt rank level. By practicing under
this new schedule, we will no longer have to compromise the drills between the
belts. We can teach the students more specifically depending on their level and
needs. Therefore, as the above schedule, from Monday, October 24th,
2011 our class schedule will change. But, since it is important and
beneficial for the lower belts to watch and learn from the higher belts, we will
have an ALL KIDS class, twice a week, on Wednesday and Saturday. Also, higher
belts are not prohibited to take a white to orange belt class. Higher belts can
take the class but please understand that mainly basics will be taught. Basics
have a deeper meaning and it is important to review them. To help with teaching
the lower levels will become an advantage to them, and make them be more aware
of more on details. When I am having trouble with something in karate, I always
go to the basics to find a way through.
Fortunately, 2 tournaments have
been canceled or postponed this year, giving a us a little bit more time to
adjust. (We may plan inviting some other Oyama dojos and other style dojos to
have our own dojo tournament.)

With the new classes, I hope to try hard to teach the students so they can
enter the next tournament or promotion test with confidence.

Secondly, Soshu’s class also has been moved to every Fridays from 6:30 – 7:45
pm. He also added Black and Brown Belts class starting at 7:45 – 8:15 pm.
